In August of 2023, a remarkable story of compassion and community unfolded. Two groups of wild reservation herds, made up of mothers and foals, faced a dire fate in three different kill pens across the country. However, thanks to the efforts of actress and producer Dawn Olivieri and her dedicated social media following, these horses were rescued through a crowdfunding campaign.
Dawn Olivieri, known for her roles as Sarah Atwood on the Paramount Network TV show "Yellowstone" and Jenna Ross on the upcoming Angel Studios film and TV series “Homestead,” has since established a non-profit organization called Moon Mountain Sanctuary and Rescue at her ranch in Arkansas. The charity was created with the mission of providing land, shelter, food, care, and love to rescue animals, aiming to give them a second chance at a better life and ultimately placing them in forever homes.
Within a month, Dawn and her newly formed team of volunteers successfully rescued 50 horses, bringing some back from the brink of death. The entire group was fed and cared for, showcasing a tremendous effort of dedication and teamwork.
Dawn Olivieri’s journey of rescue was further supported by ShelterLogic, which was recommended by one of the listeners on her weekly Instagram Live. Reaching out for assistance, Olivieri received a generous donation of corral shelters from ShelterLogic, further aiding in the care and rehabilitation of the horses.

To date, the Moon Mountain Sanctuary has saved more than 200 horses.
